Maine’s hospitals remain overcrowded and understaffed and our front-line hospital workers continue to work incredibly long hours with few breaks.

Lee Auto Malls continues our support of Maine’s front-line healthcare workers and would like to thank Becky’s Diner for creating and helping us deliver the latest round of lunches to Maine Medical Center in Portland for the past two days. Additionally, Tuesday evening they helped provide breakfast sandwiches for the overnight shift.
Lee Auto Malls continues its support of Front-Line Health Workers
As hospitalizations due to COVID-19 surged across the country and in Maine, our healthcare workers have been overwhelmed and under stress. Lee Auto Malls is continuing its support of these incredible individuals.
This October, working with local area restaurants, Lee Auto Malls will be providing lunches at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Rumford Hospital, Bridgton Hospital, Mercy Hospital in Portland, and MaineGeneral in Augusta.
Lee Partners With United Way To Help With Their Backpack Program
Lee Auto Mall is pleased to partner with United Way of Androscoggin County for their 13th Annual Backpack program. Every summer, United Way hosts the Backpack Project to supply backpacks filled with school supplies for the upcoming school year. The Backpack Project is one of many ways that United Way works to increase the academic success and high school graduation rates for students in our region.

Whether it is our ongoing sponsorship of the Maine Organic Farmers & Growers Association, the Maine Farmland Trust, or the Maine Federation of Farmers’ Markets, Lee believes a strong culture of locally-sourced, sustainable farming is key to Maine’s identity and its future.

Previously we mentioned we have been providing lunches for the Maine County Teachers of the Year and their staff. Additionally, we sponsor a classroom project that the teacher gets to run and organize.

For the past few months, in collaboration with local area restaurants, Lee Auto Malls has been providing lunches to Maine’s County Teachers of the Year and their school’s entire teaching staff. We wished to recognize Maine’s teachers and their extraordinary efforts they put forth to improve the lives of our children. Additionally, we have sponsored a special classroom project. We thought it might be interesting to learn what some of those amazing teachers have come up with.
Lee Auto Mall Kicks Off Our Spring LeeCares Community Campaign
We proud to kick off our spring LeeCares Community Campaign by celebrating Maine’s 2021 Teacher of the Year, Cindy Soule. A fourth-grade teacher at the Gerald E. Talbot Community School in Portland, Cindy’s unique approach to inquiry-based science has also made her a candidate for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

2020 was a difficult year for many Mainers, and it posed major challenges for Maine’s teachers. First came a rapid switch to remote learning, then a return to a classroom environment that was radically different from the one they left. Teachers were challenged to create an enriching and productive learning environment while keeping their students and themselves safe.
